TIMECOP JOURNEYS MOVIE
This movie does some interesting things and has some good action, but there are a few slow spots where the addition of some background music or something would help. I will say this about the Muscles from Brussels, though, he can really stretch those legs! In Timecop, we get not one, but TWO Van Damme splits! My wife’s review of this movie was “C- for the acting, and A+ for the splits!” I can’t argue with her there. I haven’t seen Bloodsport in a long time (and they must have forgotten about Street Fighter), so for now I’ll take their word for it.

This movie is described on some sites as Jean-Claude Van Damme’s finest work. IMDb summary: Max Walker, an officer for a security agency that regulates time travel, must fend for his life against a shady politician who’s intent on changing the past to control the future. Overall, it is another great addition to the ranks of time travel films and settles in nicely in the top third of Redbeard’s Ratings for movies.

This movie has a very 90’s angular aesthetic that influenced my art for a long time (and probably still does). I think I was partially just drawn to the cover and the bright colors. I don’t how or why I obtained a copy of that book, or even if I read the whole thing. I remember vividly owning a paperback copy of the novelization. Often in time travel movies the future is portrayed as dark and gritty, so it is always nice to see a more hopeful vision on how the world turns out down the road.ĭespite being a little askew from my expectations, this movie left a mark on me as a teen in ways I cannot explain. I also like the fact that this movie’s version of the future is bright and colorful with big neon foam clothing and oversized boots.

We also get some new great character additions to the franchise, including the Grim Reaper, and the Good Robot Us’s (love those guys). Although most of the film is about Bill and Ted visiting heaven and hell, there are some time travel shenanigans at the very end when the phone booth shows up. This movie is a little darker and edgier than their first excellent adventure, but there is still a lot of fun to be had. We continued on the Bill and Ted train this week by watching their second installment, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey.
TIMECOP JOURNEYS ANDROID
IMDb summary: A tyrant from the future creates evil android doubles of Bill and Ted and sends them back to eliminate the originals.
